Melody Hames refers to the ‘Horse Barber’ brand. She is the foremost UK’s horse clipping educator, bringing education and professionalism to the Equestrian clipping art industry. Her vision was to move forward, expand her brand and to inspire the Equestrian clipping industry with professionalism. The Horse Barber service is created by Melody Hames and the concept in her horse clipping journey is not new, it is from an early age.
This equestrian clipping brand and business was born in 2012. Melody challenged the equestrian clipping status quo and changed the traditional clipping methods face to give a new life to the clipping industry. Her approach was unique and she showed the passion for her being creative in her craft and clipping.
She says the clipping of horses began when she was hardly 9 in the mid 90s. She was passionate
about horses and her Art and design. She earned her graduation with a BA Hons from the University of Salford in 2015.
She began clipping her pony that suffered with cushings disease. She did this to assist his well being. Again 20 years later she became the UKs first horse clipper to offer traditional and creative horse clipping skills. She is now offering training and education as equine clipping educator, nationally and internationally. She showcased the techniques of horse clipping along the American clipper company Andis, yet she is the first to deliver a new clipping education in the UK.
The passion towards her art and craft gained attention of worldwide media, online, magazines, print press, newspapers, blogs and TV. She influenced horse clipping offering the approach of ‘Horse barber.’ She identified the need to offer training and education about horse clipping and is the first to give training in her style and as per her experience in the UK.
Creative clipping is widely accepted and the awareness of its benefits is high. Melody gives to horse clipping a different approach and is prominent for her passion for craft, knowledge, horsemanship skills, and her understanding of different horse coat types and horses. All this helped in identifying Equestrian clipping art better and new ways to clip horses effectively and safely.
Melody envisions creating a happier and safer environment with the clipping process for the handlers or owners and the horses, alike. She creates beautiful masterpieces and presents incredible clipping designs into the horses.
Her designs are impressive, and she works to inspire others with educational seminars in the industry on both traditional and creative clipping. She created several beautiful designs including a warhorse tribute, patriotic designs, tribal prints, and many other amazing creations. It is her love for design and art, knowledge on coat types, and horsemanship skills.
